Expanding Quick Actions in the Clinical Inbox — Close and Delete

Overview

From the Quick Action Menu, accessible via the grid view of the Clinical Inbox, you can take actions on items without leaving the Clinical Inbox.

With this update, we're expanding the quick action feature to streamline your workflow for managing inbox items.

You can now:

  • Close appointment requests and clinical documents (in addition to lab/imaging results, admin documents, and patient cases).

  • Delete documents (excluding encounter documents) if you have deletion permissions.

For more details on these changes, see Quick action updates.

Benefits

We're making these changes to save you clicks and time and reduce the need to leave the Clinical Inbox.

For more information on this feature, see Take actions on items in the Clinical Inbox in O-help.

Quick action updates

Close

You can now close appointment requests and clinical documents directly from the Clinical Inbox when that option is available on the document view.

Right-click a task or click the more options icon  to open the Quick Action Menu, and then click Close.

The pop-up window displays the reason for closing the document. Click Save to close the document, or click the down arrow  to save and select an additional action.

For the following documents in NOTIFY status, you can click Mark Notification Completed in the Quick Action Menu to close the document:

  • Clinical documents
  • Patient Care Summary letters
  • Patient correspondence

For details on the available quick actions for each inbox category, see Take actions on items in the Clinical Inbox in O-help.

Delete

You can now delete documents directly from the Clinical Inbox when:

Note
The Delete action is not available for encounter documents.

Right-click a task or click the more options icon  to open the Quick Action Menu, and then click Delete.

In the pop-up window, select a reason for deleting the task from the menu (if applicable):

Click Save to delete the document, or click the down arrow  to save and select an additional action.

Find deleted documents

Deleting a document removes it from appearing in the Clinical Inbox; however, you can still search for deleted documents in the patient chart:

  1. In the patient chart, click the Find tab at the top of the list of chart tabs on the left side of the screen.

  2. In the search bar, enter deleted. The tab automatically returns a list of all deleted documents, organized by document type.

In addition, you can search for deleted documents on the Document Search page. For details, see To search for a specific document in the Clinical Inbox.
