Disconnected Claim View on Visit & Claim Update Page

Overview

You can now review and work disconnected claims on the Visit & Claim Update page using the new Disconnected Claim View.

Tip: Click the image for a closer look.

Note
The Disconnected Claim view is intended to replace Claim Action.

All of the features and benefits of working on Claim Action are available on this new view of the Visit & Claim Update page.

Benefits

Benefits of the Disconnected Claim View include:

  • Reviewing and working all claims regardless of connected or disconnected status on the Visit & Claim Update page. This means you can stay in one location to complete your work.

  • Saving time via a reduction in the overall number of pages involved in claim billing workflows.

User access and permissions

The user access and permissions related to the Claim Edit and Claim Action pages are required for this feature.

If you can edit claims and do transaction management workflows, you can access the page.

For more information related to user access and permissions for the Claim Edit and Claim Action pages, see the following O-help articles; once there, see the User Access and Permissions sub-section.

Specific user roles related to voiding transactions

Several user roles are associated with voiding transactions. These roles give your practice administrators more control over voiding permissions. In O-help's User Guide — Visit & Claim Update page, see the "Specific user roles related to voiding transactions" subsection of the "User Access and Permissions" section for more information.

Display the Visit & Claim Update page

For more information about the Visit & Claim Update page, see the User Guide — Visit & Claim Update page in O-help.

Note
The Visit & Claim Update page is only available for existing claims. This means you cannot access the page through the Missing Slips Worklist.

To display the Visit & Claim Update page, you can:

  • Search for a Claim ID

  • Select a claim from any hold or follow up worklist

    Note
The Visit & Claim Update page appears automatically for all connected claims. For disconnected claims, either the Disconnected Claim View or the legacy Claim Edit page appears depending on the user's preference. To set this preference, see the Set disconnected claim navigation preference section.

  • Click the Go to Visit & Claim Update Page link in the Claim Notes section on Claim Edit.

Set disconnected claim navigation preference

To set your navigation preference for disconnected claims, check the Always open claims not connected to a visit on Claim Edit box at the top right corner of the Claim Panel.

The Always open claims not connected to a visit on Claim Edit box is unchecked by default.

  • When this box is unchecked, disconnected claims open on Visit & Claim Update.

  • When this box is checked, disconnected claims open on the legacy Claim Edit page.

This setting can be altered at any time on the Disconnected Claim View.

Note
To return to the Disconnected Claim View after you set disconnected claims to open in Claim Edit, click the Go to Visit & Claim Update Page link in the Claim Notes section on Claim Edit.

Use Disconnected Claim View

The Disconnected Claim View allows you to access all resources and functionality available in the Claim Panel.

For more information on the Claim panel, refer to the User Guide — Visit & Claim Update page in O-help; once there see the "Claim panel" sub-section of the "Getting started" section.

Note
Visit data and the Automated Claim Update are not available from the Disconnected Claim View.

Editing Diagnosis Codes and Charges

You can edit diagnosis codes and charges in the Disconnected Claim View without needing to go to Claim Edit.

To access the Edit Diagnosis Codes and Charges workflow

You can access the Edit Diagnosis Codes and Charges workflow via the following methods:

  1. Click Edit Diagnosis Codes and Charges link from the Actions menu in the top right corner of the Visit & Claim Update page.
  2. Charge actions — In the Charge Summary and Actions section, click Edit Diagnosis Codes and Charges in the list of Charge actions options.
  3. Click Edit next to the Diagnosis Codes header in the Charge Details section. The charge line of the Charge Details section appears.
  4. Click Edit on any charge line in the Charge Details section.

Note
Taking any of these actions will change the diagnosis codes section and the charge line from a read-only state to an editable state.

Read-only version

Once saved, you'll see a read-only version.

Editable version

You can edit diagnosis codes and charge details and add new charges using this functionality. Once you are done with your updates, you can click Save at the bottom of the page to submit your changes.

Note
This functionality also includes UI updates to the charge lines and the transaction history sections (shown in the screenshots above). Updates to the charge line UI also appear on the Connected Claim View of the Visit & Claim Update page (see: Updated Charge Line and Transaction History on Visit & Claim Update).
